- Programming Competition

- The ACSU will hold a programming contest sponsored by Morgan-Stanley and Amazon.com!
No RSVP required, to enter the contest simply show up.
The contest will run from 1-5 pm in Upson 361. Prizes include 3 PSPs, 3 DS Lites and 3 iPod shuffles. Of course, Pizza will be served.
Following is the format of the competition.
Format:
* The competition will last four hours.
* The competition will consist of 6-8 programming problems.
* Contestants may program in C, C++, or Java.
* Contestants may refer to the C, C++, or Java API, but no other
reference
sources are allowed.
* Submissions will be judged either correct or incorrect.
* Problems may be resubmitted until they are correct.
Competition Categories:
* The competition is open to both undergraduates and first and second
year graduate students.
* Contestants will compete either as individuals or in teams of two.
* Undergraduates may compete in either category
* Graduate students may only compete individually.
Scoring:
* Scoring is based primarily on the number of problems solved.
* Ties are broken by penalty minutes.
* When you submit a problem you accrue a number of minutes equal
to the number of minutes since the start of the contest.
* Each incorrect submission adds 20 penalty minutes provided<
that the problem is eventually submitted correctly (if the problem
is never submitted correctly, you do not receive the penalty
minutes,
but neither do you receive credit for the problem).
Prizes:
* 3 PSPs and 3 DS Lites will be awarded to the first and second place
wins in
each category (teams and individuals).
* The winners get their choice of prize.
* The first place winner in the individual category will chose first.
* The first place winners in the team category will chose second.
* The second place winner in the individual category will chose
third.
* The second place winners in the team category will chose last.
* 3 iPod Shuffles will be award as special "category prizes".
* These categories will award special achievement on one specific
problem.
* The categories will be announced at the time of the competition.
* The category prizes are not open to the first and second place
winners.

This happy hour will feature a special music performance by your Professors Kozen, Bailey and Schwartz!
